What we can help you with

We encounter dental problems / enquiries all the time, and we’re positive we’ll be able to help fix whatever it is that’s bothering you! Amongst the many issues that patients have when contacting us, two treatment types are usually involved:

  • Restorative Treatments - This is when we’ll have to restore a tooth that’s been damaged or broken through decay/trauma. Common restorative treatments include fillings, crowns, tooth extractions etc.

  • Preventative Treatments - The purpose here is to act quickly, before oral health issues or diseases occur. We have an excellent team of dental hygienists who’ll be able to advise you on how you should maintain good oral hygiene - as well as keeping you informed on whether you need more invasive treatments.

More about General Dentistry

Bleeding gums shouldn’t be ignored

If your gums are bleeding whilst brushing your teeth, it’s important that you know what this means for your oral health. Bleeding is caused by plaque build-up, and if ignored, it could lead to gum disease. The key to preventing this from happening is to brush properly twice a day, as well as flossing. If you still find that your gums are bleeding, please arrange an appointment so that an expert may advise you.

If your tooth’s been knocked out, see a dentist immediately

It’s understood that once your tooth has been knocked out, you should get to a dentist inside 30 minutes. This could well be what saves your tooth, as any longer and it may be too late. If it’s an adult tooth, try and place it back - if possible.

If you need to take it to the dentist, the best way to handle a broken tooth is to hold it by the crown (white part) and not the root! It’s also vital that you rinse the tooth in milk, before keeping it between your gums and cheek for much needed moisture.

Key facts to remember

X-rays are extremely useful and nothing to be afraid of!

We use X-rays in order to have a comprehensive understanding of your oral health. It gives us the ability to see things we simply can’t see with a naked eye – all to help provide you with a more accurate, streamlined dental service. The amount of radiation is also minimal so there’s nothing to be concerned about!

Fluoride is key for your child’s teeth

As fluoride is a natural mineral, it’s completely safe as well as being a great way to prevent tooth decay.

The ways in which it works, is by remineralising the enamel that’s been weakened, which essentially means it’s helping to strengthen the teeth! Fluoride is also proven to stunt growth of harmful bacteria.

There’s a solution for sensitive teeth!

If you have sensitive teeth, there are a few things you can try. There are, for example, specific toothpastes designed for sensitive teeth that can be of great help to you. It may help to avoid brushing your teeth straight after eating, for up to 1 hour. If the problem persists, please contact us for a visit at Clarendons, so that our experts may take a closer look.
